This 65-inch LCD (LED) 4K UHD TV from Hisense has full-array local dimming, is internet enabled, and uses the "Google TV" operating system. It includes a built-in Google Assistant virtual assistant. Hisense claims this model will also work with external Amazon Alexa devices. CR's tests found it had Excellent 4K UHD picture quality, and very effective HDR performance, but the viewing angle was limited.

The Hisense U8H is an excellent TV all-around. It's an excellent TV for watching movies in a dark room thanks to its high contrast ratio and great local dimming feature. HDR content looks incredible as it gets incredibly bright and has a wide color gamut, so the latest movies look incredibly realistic and lifelike. It's a great TV for watching shows or sports in a bright room, but because it has a narrow viewing angle, it's not a good choice for a wide seating arrangement as the image degrades when viewed off-center. Finally, it's an amazing TV for gaming thanks to its HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, FreeSync support, low input lag, and fast response time.

Forget Samsung vs. LG. The real battle for the best TV -- one most people can afford -- is between two up-and-coming TV brands, TCL and Hisense. Both use mini-LED technology to achieve awesome picture quality for much less than the cost of OLED. When I tested the Hisense U8H, I found that it outperforms just about every other TV in its price range. Its appeal is anchored by a super-bright picture with incredible contrast, a combination that makes it shine with HDR sources and in bright rooms.
